I recently finished work on a volunteer project for the university, where a group of my peers and myself were tasked with designing media to advertise the upcoming Exhibition at the Baum Gallery with versions for digital media as well as print. Designing multiple versions of the poster as a group was a novel and interesting challenge, as I had never before participated in group work in any of my art classes, and likewise have never worked in design as a profession. Other than something to throw in my resume, I think this project provided valuable practice working in a design team for a client in a non-academic setting. Though we struggled through some stages of the project, success was eventually found within a synthesis of the our individual design choices to make a cohesive and eye-catching series of compositions.
